Tinh Bien Authorities Partner with Antesco to Promote Sustainable Agricultural Development for Local Farmers

On May 15, the People’s Committee of Tinh Bien Town held a meeting with the An Giang Fruit-Vegetables and Foodstuff Joint Stock Company (Antesco) to discuss and promote strategic directions for sustainable and effective agricultural development among local farmers.

Participants at the meeting included Ms. Vo Thi Thuy Tien, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Tinh Bien Town Party Committee, Mr. Lam Van Ba, Vice Chairman of the Town People’s Committee and Mr. Nguyen Hoang Minh, General Director of Antesco, along with representatives from various town departments, the Farmers’ Association, and the People’s Committee of local communes and wards.During the meeting, the delegates focused on discussing solutions to support farmers in developing sustainable agriculture. Based on Antesco’s strategy and proposals, the town plans to organize cultivation areas, select crops suited to the local soil and weather conditions, with aiming to establish stable and concentrated production areas.

Both parties participated in the discussion on contract procedures, pricing, product quality standards, and proposed support policies aimed at benefiting local farmers. These policies include seed supply, agricultural inputs, the adoption of advanced cultivation techniques, and guaranteed purchasing of agricultutal products. Additionally, the discussions emphasized the importance of strengthening linkages between production and consumption to enhance market access and efficiency.

Currently, vegetable production in Tinh Bien Town remains small-scale, lacks proper planning, and has yet to develop specialized cultivation areas. This meeting serves as a pivotal step toward the establishment of a modernized agricultural sector that applies scientific and technological advancements, prioritizes biosafety, and promotes sustainable development. These initiatives are anticipated to enhance the overall value of agricultural products, generate more employment opportunities, and contibute to improved incomes and living standards for the local population.
